Required Before Ordering

Float King Sizing Guide

You must measure your own center caps before ordering. We cannot determine sizing from photos, messages, or year/make/model alone.

Photos do not work. Sending us a picture of your cap with a tape measure tells us nothing. There are too many sizes with measurements within 1-2mm of each other. You must follow the steps below and measure precisely yourself.

What type of wheels do you have?

Select the option that best describes your wheels:

✓ Stock Floaters are your product

Stock Floaters are designed for OEM factory wheels only. They will not fit aftermarket wheels made by third-party manufacturers — wheel dimensions and hub depths vary too much and we have no way to verify fitment.

⚠ One more check first — the Lug Nut Test

XL Floaters replace large center caps on aftermarket wheels. But not all aftermarket wheels have large caps. Before going further, you need to check whether your current center cap covers the lug nuts.

How to Measure — Stock Floaters

Frontside Width Measurement Stock Floaters

Stock Floaters require only one measurement: the diameter (width) of your current center cap, measured across the front face.

Why not just use a ruler directly on the cap?

Many caps have curved or domed edges that make placing a ruler difficult. Multiple cap sizes are within 1-2mm of each other. The paper method is the most accurate way to measure.

  1. Remove your center capPop or unscrew the center cap from your wheel. Measure the one that's currently on the car — not any spare or old cap.
  2. Place the cap face-down on a plain sheet of paperSet the front face of the cap flat against the paper. Make sure it's lying perfectly flat.
  3. Trace around the edgeUsing a pen or pencil, trace a line all the way around the outer edge of the cap where it contacts the paper.
  4. Remove the cap and draw a straight line across the circleDraw a straight line through the center of the traced circle, from one side to the other (a diameter line).
  5. Measure that line in millimeters (mm)Use a ruler or tape measure to measure the length of that diameter line. Write down the measurement in millimeters.
  6. Match to a product sizeUse the measurement you got to find the matching size when selecting your product. If your measurement falls between two sizes, order the smaller of the two.
Measure in millimeters, not inches. All Float King sizes are listed in mm. There are 25.4mm in one inch. A typical stock cap is 55mm–75mm wide.
Photos of your cap with a tape measure are not accepted. We cannot determine accurate sizing this way.

How to Measure — XL Floaters

XL Floaters require two separate measurements: the backside clip size and the frontside width. Both are required — missing either one means we cannot confirm sizing.

Measurement 1 — Backside Clip Size XL Floaters

The backside clip is the retaining ring on the back of your existing center cap. This clip must match one of our standard sizes or your floater will not seat correctly.

How to measure the backside clip of your center cap
  1. Remove your center capPop or unscrew it from the wheel. You'll be measuring the back side.
  2. Locate the retaining clip ringFlip the cap over. You'll see a plastic or metal retaining ring on the back — this is the clip that snaps into the wheel hub. Measure the outer diameter of this ring.
  3. Measure the clip's outer diameter in mmUse a caliper or ruler to measure straight across the widest part of the retaining clip, not the entire back of the cap.
  4. Note your measurementWrite it down in mm. This is your backside clip size.
A digital caliper (under $15 at any hardware store) is the most accurate tool for backside clip measurements. Sizes often differ by only 1–2mm.
Measurement 2 — Frontside Width (Paper Method) XL Floaters

The frontside width is the outer diameter of the cap face. Do not measure with a ruler placed directly on the cap — XL caps are often domed or tapered, and multiple sizes are extremely close in measurement. The paper method is required.

  1. Place the cap face-down on a plain sheet of paperSet the front face flat against the paper on a hard, flat surface.
  2. Trace completely around the cap edgeHold the cap still and trace all the way around the outer edge where it contacts the paper. Keep the pen vertical.
  3. Remove the capSet the cap aside. You should have a clean circle outline on the paper.
  4. Draw a straight line across the widest part of the circleThis is your diameter line. Place a ruler across the circle and draw a line through the exact center from edge to edge.
  5. Measure the line in millimeters (mm)Measure the full length of that line. This is your frontside width.
  6. Record both measurementsYou now have your backside clip size and your frontside width. Use both when selecting your product variant.
XL Floater sizes are typically 145mm–200mm wide. If your measurement is under 120mm, double-check whether you have a Stock Floater application.
Photos of your cap with a tape measure do not provide accurate enough measurements. You must measure using the paper method.

Still not sure which product you need?

Use our decision guide above to work through it step by step. If you've measured correctly and still aren't finding a matching size, message us — but please include your two measurements in millimeters. We cannot help without measurements.

Note: We cannot determine sizing from photos, year/make/model alone, or tape measure images. Measurements in mm are required for any sizing assistance.
