Center cap measurement guide

Find Your Float King Size

The fastest way to confirm fit is to measure the cap you already have. Year, make, and model help, but the actual cap measurement is what confirms the correct product.

Measure before ordering. XL floaters, stock caps, and small floating caps are measured differently, so start with the type of cap you have.

XL Floating Caps

XL floaters are typically for aftermarket or larger wheels. If your current center caps do not cover your lug nuts, XL floaters will not fit your wheel.

How to find your outer diameter

Place your cap face-up on paper, mark the left and right outside edges, then measure the distance between those marks. That distance is your XL outer diameter.

Tip: Choose the size closest to the measurement between your two paper marks. The cap must be larger than your wheel's bore opening to sit flush on the face.

How to find your back-side size

Remove your existing cap and measure only the metal clip ring on the back. Do not include the plastic outer cap.

Tip: XL back-side size has only two options. If your ring is closest to 58mm, choose 58mm. If it is closest to 68mm, choose 68mm.

How to measure stock caps

  1. Remove one current center cap from your wheel.
  2. Place the cap face-up on a flat surface.
  3. Measure straight across the front outside diameter in millimeters.
  4. Choose the matching size shown on the product page.

Small Floating Caps

Small floaters are the smaller round caps that sit in the center of the wheel and do not cover the lug nuts — most common on aftermarket wheels that take a small circle floating cap. We custom-build small floating caps to your exact measurements, so they fit any wheel — aftermarket or stock/OEM. Use a digital caliper and take all five measurements in millimeters.

The 5 required measurements

  1. Front face diameter — measure straight across the visible front of the cap, from one outer edge to the opposite outer edge. Accepted range: 54–75 mm.
  2. Rear insert diameter — measure the round backside insert section only. Do not include the retaining clips. Accepted range: 54–75 mm.
  3. Clip-to-clip diameter — measure across the outside tips of the retaining clips at their widest point.
  4. Clip depth / locking depth — measure from the back of the cap lip to the clip locking edge.
  5. Clip / lip thickness — measure the thickness of the retaining lip or clip edge where it locks into the wheel.
